Purple Sash Gala 2019
We were honored to be part of YWCA Oklahoma City’s 16th annual Purple Sash Gala at The Criterion in June. It was a night to celebrate survivors of domestic violence while raising funds and awareness for those still fighting to break the cycle of abuse.
YWCA Oklahoma City’s Purple Sash Gala is an evening of fine dining, silent and live auctions and a high energy runway show. Guests come in their best blacktie attire to bid on one of a kind auction items and see the latest fashions from local businesses. This year’s featured store was Gordon Stuart.
Mixing natural elements like agate with luxurious textures like chiffon, this dazzling event not only entertains, but inspires patrons to contribute to this wonderful organization. Our team planned and coordinated the multi-faceted show, which featured a fashion show, moving videos, and live speaking portions of this event, producing an elegant evening filled with hope and promise that one day, domestic violence will be eliminated from our community. We set the tone with beautiful purple uplighting from Toucan Productions. Guests enjoyed dinner and the fashion show on gorgeous chairs from Chameleon Chair Collection. Everyone left the night a winner knowing they helped raise valuable dollars for victims to receive emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy and much more.
Last year, YWCA Oklahoma City answered 8,289 domestic violence and sexual assault crisis calls and helped more than 4,600 people receive shelter, advocacy and counseling services. Donations generated during the Purple Sash event enabled the life-saving work. During the COVID-19 crisis, this work is more important than ever, as many victims remain trapped with their abusers, unable to find respite in the work day. This year’s “gala with a twist” will now be held on Aug. 7 at the Skirvin Hilton. For information about tickets or sponsorships, go to www.ywcaokc.org/purple-sash.
